Anise hyssop: Member of the mint family that smells like anise (black licorice). Tall, upright stems with fragrant purple flower spikes. Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. A clump forming drought tolerant perennial that can spread. Long lasting blooms.
Sunflower (tall/edible): Low maintenance, tall yellow sunflowers. With Beautiful large flower heads these can attract birds and will produce a high volume of seeds to save or eat in the fall.
Poppy: A mix of colourful blooms and petal types, these are low maintenance and reliable producers. Scatter seeds in early spring for late spring to summer blooms. Be careful where you plant and note that all parts of the poppy plant are toxic to dogs and cats.
Dyers chamomile: Part of the daisy family, a bushy clump forming perennial with yellow flowers and petals. The flower heads can be used as a long lasting dye for fabrics and produce lovely yellows. Native to Europe Mediterranean and west Asia, naturalized in North America.

Hyssop (bush like):
Columbine flower: Short-lived herbaceous perennial with colourful blooms. The blue-purple flowers are always one of the first to bloom in my garden. Grows best in cooler conditions and not tolerant of extreme heat. Toxicity warning. **require cold stratification to germinate.
Fireweed: Native to most of Canada. A Tall somewhat drought tolerant plant with beautiful purple blooms in mid summer. Fireweed spreads underground through rhizomes so grow in containers if you don’t want them to spread. Attracts bees, flies, butterflies, and hummingbirds alongside a number of other native pollinators. **seeds require cold stratification, so plant in the fall for spring growth.
Wild carrot: Herbaceous perennial with tall stems that produce small white flowers clustered in dense umbels. Spread into North America by European settlers. Prolonged contact with skin can cause irritation.
Black hollyhock: A biennial flowering plant that can grow to 8 feet tall. Large dark blooms. **easiest to plant in the fall as seeds can withstand freezing soil conditions. if planting in the spring best to start indoors first.
Strawflower: A colourful, short-lived annual (in regions with hot summers). Blooms from spring until fall.
Baby’s breath: A hardy, cold tolerant plant with prolific small white flowers. Low maintenance ornamental that is ideal for pots given its classification as invasive plant in the United States, and a noxious weed in both California, Washington, and Canada. Can be mildly toxic to humans and pets.

Yarrow/Mallow/Wild Carrot mix (limited):

Leaves and flowers are edible, with a peppery taste.
Black eyed Susan (limited): An abundant growing perennial that can take two to three years to reach full height. Flowers with bright yellow petals and dark center disks attract bumblebees, butterflies, and moths. **not required but will germinate best if allowed a period of cold stratification.
Foxglove (limited): A tall slender biennial with tubular blooms often with colorful speckles. Thrives in cooler temperatures.
Zinnia (limited): A fast-growing, warm-season annual flowers of bright bold colours.
Harebell (limited): A hardy, perennial wildflower native to much of North America. Bell-like blue almost purple flowers on tall stems.
